FAQ
WHY ARE MY KITCHEN OUTLETS NOT WORKING?
Per the NEC, all kitchen outlets are required to be on GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupt) circuits. Majority of the time when these outlets are not working, it's caused by a tripped GFCI.
WHY ARE MY OUTSIDE/GARAGE OUTLETS NOT WORKING?
Per the NEC, all garage and outside outlets are required to be on GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupt) circuits. A lot of times, garage and outside outlets are on the same GFCI protected circuit. Majority of the time when these outlets are not working, it's caused by a tripped GFCI. This especially seems to happen during the holidays when Christmas lights are outside. Outside outlets are sometimes controlled with a switch in a nearby closet.
WHY DOES MY LIVING ROOM/BEDROOM/HALLWAY CIRCUIT BREAKER KEEP TRIPPING?
Per the NEC, these spaces are required to be protected by AFCI (arc fault circuit interrupt) circuit breakers. These are identified with test buttons on the breaker. A lot of times, vacuum cleaners will cause these to trip.
WHAT DO THE NUMBERS AND TEMPERATURE RATINGS ON LED LIGHTS MEAN?
Picking out LED bulbs can become overwhelming with all of the numbers and different types of bulbs. If you are looking for your space to have a warmer hue, or closer to incandescent, look for a lower degree Kelvin (K) rating. An example of a warmer temperature rating would say 2700K on the box. If you are looking for your space to have a cooler hue, or closer to fluorescent, look for a higher degree Kelvin (K) rating. An example of a cooler temperature rating would say 4000K on the box. If you are looking to dim these lights, make sure it says "dimmable" on the box.
